Public Astronomy and Telescope Night
Sat., March 15th at Charles Douglas Observatory
Bring your telescope.
We'll show you how to get the most out of it.
This month, we will be talking about and demonstrating Telescopes. From beginner to advanced, up to telescopes bigger than you.
That night, weather permitting we will be able to see Mars, Saturn, the Moon and the Great Orion Nebula and teach you how to find objects yourself in your own backyard.
This Saturday, March 15th, the Charles Douglas Observatory, will be open to the public for an evening of stargazing. The observatory, located northwest of Warrensburg, features a variety of telescopes including a 24-inch reflector and will open at 7 p.m. The Sun sets by 7:30pm. Families including adults and children are all welcome and invited to participate.
A short talk titled “Telescopes for everyone ” will begin about 8 p.m. followed by stargazing, weather permitting.
To get to the Douglas Observatory travel 4 miles north of Warrensburg on Highway 13. Turn left or west on OO Highway and go 1.5 miles, just across the single lane bridge. The driveway on the right or north side of the road takes you back ¼ mile to the observatory after 2 turns.
The observatory is operated by the Stargarden Foundation, a not for profit organization supported by donations. Suggested donation is $5 per person with children under 12 free.
